On October 6, the City of Carson hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the reopening of the 189th Street Pedestrian Bridge. Several elected officials, including Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes, were in attendance to mark the occasion.
Using funds from a few different sources, including the city’s Utility User’s Tax, the bridge was upgraded with a number of safety improvements. Catering to pedestrians and cyclists, it now provides easy access to Towne Avenue Elementary School and Victoria Community Regional Park.
At the ceremony, Mayor Lula Davis-Holmes said she was pleased to open the bridge, and it was “symbolic of Carson’s goal to continuously find ways to create a safe and sustainable alternative transportation.”
